OUHSC Student Modules Renovation at the Basic Science Education Building
Owner: University of Oklahoma
Address: OU Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK
Contract Amount: $7 Million – $10 Million
Project Completion: July 2008
OUHSC BSEB Renovations included a complete renovation of the middle two floors of an existing, occupied science building that had not been updated since the late 1960's. The original facility was primarily science labs for medical students. The renovation provided 20 new modules, each housing 20 medical students. These modules were complete with built in study desks, wood lockers, kitchenettes, and individual conference rooms with computers and flat panel televisions. Included in this work was the addition of a fire suppression system to the facility, replacement of three large air handling units in the basement, installation of a new main electrical service for the entire facility, renovation of restroom facilities, addition of two large classrooms on the 2nd floor, construction of a new Boren Lounge, and renovation of a lecture hall on the top floor.
